The Preserve, Wednesday evening

Jason had been feeling weird all week, but it was nothing compared to today. He hadn't been around people too much, but every time he talked, little things that he hadn't meant to say kept coming out. He was pretty sure it wasn't just him - the island did seem to love screwing with people in great big batches, after all - but avoiding people as much as he could still seemed like the wisest course of action. Even though it was nighttime, he decided to go for as long of a run as he could.

Yes, he'd already gone for a run this morning. He still had way too much energy to burn off.

Nico's cheeks burned red as his hand dropped from Jason's sweatshirt. He felt a very distinct urge to run headlong into the shadows and disappear rather than figure out the words needed just then. "Yeah. Uh, I should - you know."

"I don't regret doing that," Jason said quickly, partly because he thought Nico should know, and partly because he couldn't help it. He dropped his hand a little, down to Nico's arm.

"Good thing. I'd hate to have to avoid you when we have two classes together." Oh if only he could shut his mouth. "And since you're a really good kisser. Not too wet at all." Clearly his first thought to flee had been the correct one as evidenced by the way Nico squeezed his eyes shut to will the world to disappear.

"You're a really good kisser too," Jason said, because this day hated him. "Um. Do you want to do this again sometime? Maybe when talking isn't so bad?" Because not talking to Nico and using their mouths for other things was way more fun.

"Yes," he answered quickly, liking this idea kind of a lot. "Sometime when I sound like less of an idiot and can avoid talking too much about your armored underwear. Um..." That would be a giant cringe.

"If you ask nicely, I might wear my costume for you," Jason admitted. Because Bruce wouldn't kill him over that at all.

Nico so loved that it was called a costume. It almost felt like Halloween all over again when he'd been the most awesome Jesus ever. "For a son of Hades, you're gonna be surprised by how nice I can be. Especially for stuff that sounds like a picture off a MythoMagic card and I can't believe I just compared you to a game I played when I was ten." He got no points for smooth.

"I don't know, you've always been nice to me. I don't think I'll be surprised," Jason said, standing back up with some reluctance. "Now I should definitely dress right, so you can tell me if I'm magic or whatever."

Nico leaned back to look up at Jason. "Sure I'll tell you. Uh, enjoy the rest of your run." It was perhaps a funny thing to say after kissing a boy, but Nico was going for normal.

As normal as he could ever manage, at least.

"I, uh, I'll try," Jason said. He smiled at Nico and started jogging again, resisting the urge to go back and kiss him again. It was definitely a lot harder then he would have imagined.
