Room 507, Sunday Afternoon

After spending Friday night sleeping in the labyrinth, getting to crash in his bed last night had almost been a treat for Jason. He hadn't bothered setting an alarm for this morning, figuring that after dealing with groping hands and violent goblins he deserved to sleep in a little, so he hadn't been awake all that long even though the morning had long since passed. When he'd woken up, he'd found that fighting his way out with the others was finally taking its toll, and he was scratched up and sore enough that just staying in bed for a little while longer seemed like a great idea.

Nico eyed Jason for a moment before speaking again, "You say things like that - it was crazy and long and not fun but worth it to save these people and I don't know if that means I should ask more about it or not."

"You can ask more if you want to, or don't if you don't really care," Jason said. "I don't know how much there is to tell. I just don't see the point in talking about stuff if you don't want to hear about it."

He reached out to shove at Jason's leg, as if to point out that he was there. "I'm naturally curious. And if it involves you, well, we can ratchet that up to intrigued, okay? Tell me what you did."

Jason tried not to smile too much as what Nico said, but he couldn't help it. Being intriguing to someone was kind of a new thing, okay? "A bunch of people got together after that Jareth guy said we had 24 hours to get everyone. Some people went after him, and some people went to find everyone who'd been kidnapped. I was in the second group," he said. "We camped out in the maze Friday night, and then in the morning, we went in."

"Ahh, explains the lack of sleep," he added, tugging off his shoes and dropping them to the floor to make himself more comfortable.

"Yeah. We took shifts being guard, but it was still hard to sleep," Jason said, moving to the side so there was room for Nico next to him if he wanted to sit there.

Nico accepted the invite and moved to sit beside him, scooting down so his shoulder wasn't much higher than Jason's. "Always is when something big is happening. So then you went deeper in?"

"Yeah, we snuck in and got past the talking doors," Jason said, "which was more than a little weird, especially since they weren't helpful. Then a couple of us accidentally split off and fell down a hole." That was a little embarrassing. "That's where the gropey hands were."

"I'm surprised they didn't try to keep you," Nico teased, only smirking a little. "Oh wait, was this heroic trip to the labyrinth in costume or not? I want the right picture."

Jason gave Nico a little nudge with his elbow. "No, I didn't go in costume. It feels kind of weird to be in costume here when no one else does it. It's less of a big deal at home."

The clear mental image of Jason in tiny shorts and cape is whisked from Nico's mind and the whole thing is far less dirty all of a sudden. "I still like it," Nico shared. "But so these people got to see you kick goblin ass?"

"Yeah, although they were kicking ass too," Jason said. "We had to fight our way out once we'd rescued everyone, and we had to go through the goblins. They weren't exactly happy about that."

"What'd you fight with? My sword wasn't working before I got stuck in the room." He was still annoyed with this and wondered when he'd get the chance to test that his power had been restored.

"I didn't have a weapon, if that's what you mean. I had some knives on me, but I didn't use them. Then again, my knives aren't awesome and magical, so I assume they would have worked if I'd had to resort to them," Jason said.

"So you're telling me you just attacked them with your fists?" Okay, that was kind of hot, though it did make Nico wonder about the state of Jason's hands. "Seriously impressive."

Jason shrugged like it wasn't that big of a deal. That was how he'd always fought, after all. "It's the best way I know to fight. And they were pretty squishy in the end," he said, pulling his hands out from under the covers to show Nico how his knuckles were only a little bloody. "See? Not much damage."

"Never a child of Apollo around when needed," he muttered, frowning because he was unable to be pleased by the sight of injury. Nico reached to draw Jason's hands closer. "Shouldn't you be bandaged or something?"

"I'll put some medicine on in a little while," Jason said, letting Nico have his hands. "It's not a big deal compared to some injuries I've had."

"Like what?" Nico wondered, having spotted some scars before but not asked about them. "Do you get hurt a lot?"

"You can't fight crime without getting knocked around," Jason said. "And you don't grow up somewhere called Crime Alley without getting knocked around a little too. I've never been hurt too badly, not life-threateningly at least. Just cuts and bites and stuff. Um, animal bites," he said, realizing that clarifying that might be a good idea.

"People bites would be a little different to explain," Nico said, clinging to the almost funny notion as he touched the torn skin on Jason's knuckles. "Imagine the scars."

"Especially if the scars were in an awkward place," Jason said, laughing. He looked down at his hands, and how Nico was touching them. "It's okay, I'll get better. It's not a big deal."

Nico smiled at Jason's laugh, freeing the boy's hands because his concern seemed unwelcome or unwarranted, or maybe both. "Yeah, I guess it's not like you're running off to fight again tomorrow. There's time for natural healing."

"Unless something else attacks us," Jason teased, before giving Nico another nudge. "I'm kidding, I swear. I appreciate the concern though. It's...kind of nice. Especially coming from you."

"You're funny," Nico said, knocking his shoulder against Jason's. "Though I am starting to wonder what gave you the idea I'm an uncaring bastard." He said it completely conversationally.
