Room 507, Sunday Evening

The one downside to Bruce knowing exactly what day it was in Fandom was that he was completely aware that Jason was going back before he needed to. There was a whole week of break left - almost another month in Gotham - and Jason easily could have stayed. But the truth was, he missed the island. He missed his friends, and just as much, he missed the independence he had here. He loved being Robin, there was no denying that, but sometimes, going back to following someone else's rules was hard, especially when that someone was Bruce Wayne.

After agreeing that he'd come home to Gotham again within the next few weeks, Bruce had agreed to let Jason head back to Fandom. He didn't have that much to pack - most of his Christmas presents had come in the form of clothes and money to buy modern things on the island - so that meant that when he got back to his room, he threw his bag down without bothering to unpack it. There'd be time for that later, and right now, he wanted to see if there was a position he could find on his bed that wouldn't make his latest set of bruises ache. If there was one thing that could be said about Fandom, at least he didn't get beaten up here as often.

Nico really wasn't trying to be a creeper, but Luke and Percy were busy in his room and Jason had said more than once that Nico was welcome to stay in Jason's room if he needed to. Besides, it wasn't like it mattered that Jason wasn't due back when Nico didn't require a key for his method of entry.

Which would just make it all the more awkward when Nico stepped out of the shadows and immediately tripped over Jason's bag. "Zeus' balls!"

Jason sat up with a start and looked towards the sound of someone tripping. "Nico? Are you okay?" he asked, leaning over.

Feeling uninjured, Nico stepped more carefully toward Jason's bed this time. "I'm fine, fine--what are you doing here?" Because he should be the one asking that question.

"I came back for the rest of break," Jason said. "What are you doing here?" Because no, he should be the one asking that question.

That was a good question with a lot of possible answers. "I was kinda hoping for a safe haven for a few hours," Nico said, not wanting to lie to Jason.

"A safe haven from what?" Jason asked. "Are you okay?" Eventually, it would occur to him that Nico had come looking for that before knowing Jason was here, but right now, it had been a month since Jason had laid eyes on Nico, and seeing him was what he was going to focus on first.

"I'm fine," though he thought it was kind of nice that Jason seemed to care. "But uh, my room seems to be otherwise occupied," he admitted.

"Oh. Ew," Jason said, making a face once he realized what Nico meant. "How'd you know I'd be here?" If Nico had more awesome people-tracking powers he hadn't mentioned to Jason, then Jason wanted to know.

"Call it a really lucky guess," Nico replied, not wanting Jason to think he was a creeper. "Mind if I hang out a while?"

Luckily for Nico, Jason thought it was kind of lucky to have him here too. "No, I don't mind," he said. "I'm definitely not going to make you go back to your room. Sorry about the bag. I'd have cleaned up if I knew you were coming." This would be your subtle hint to knock, Nico.

Jason was far too subtle. "Don't apologize, I should be more careful," he said, gingerly sitting on the edge of the bed. "You're in bed early, huh? How long have you been gone?"

Jason pulled his legs in so Nico could have more room to sit. "I was just resting," he said with a shrug. "Um, it's Sunday, right?"

"Right," Nico repeated, kicking off his shoes before pulling his feet up and turning toward Jason. "So technically a whole day of rest in some cultures."

Jason laughed. "I like the sound of a whole day of rest, although really, that's what the rest of the week will be too. I was home for about a month. There, I mean," he said, in case not saying that was confusing.

"A whole month?" Nico didn't think it was so bad after Luke's three months. "And you remembered my name. I'm awed. Seriously" Not seriously, but someone was right again.

"Oh please, like I could forget you," Jason said, rolling his eyes. "I was way too warm most of the time." Which balanced out the freezing, but he wasn't going to mention that unless Nico asked.

"Too warm? Was it summer there?" Nico asked, curious about what Jason had spent a month doing.

"No, but I didn't have my own personal air conditioner like I do here sometimes," Jason teased. "I think I've gotten kind of used to you being around."

Nico probably wasn't supposed to beam at hearing Jason thought he was his own personal anything, but he did as he totally slid closer. "So out of everything, you missed my temperature?"

"Oh, I don't remember saying I missed you," Jason teased, unable to keep from smirking even as he said it.

"You don't have to say the words for me to figure you out," Nico said, taking that smirk as further proof.

"Okay, maybe I did miss you. But a month is a long time. Longer than I've been home since I got here," Jason said. "How boring was it here?"

"So boring," Nico sighed. "Almost to the point where I'd consider going home and letting Persephone arrange a bunch of flowers in my hair. I bet you had loads more fun." Running around in his tiny green shorts and all.

"Um. Most of the time," Jason said. Minus that whole nearly dying part. And just being around Two-Face in general. "I got a lot of fighting in, that was for sure."

"I get the feeling you fight more than most demigods I know," Nico replied. "Are you okay?"
