Room 507, Sunday Evening

The one downside to Bruce knowing exactly what day it was in Fandom was that he was completely aware that Jason was going back before he needed to. There was a whole week of break left - almost another month in Gotham - and Jason easily could have stayed. But the truth was, he missed the island. He missed his friends, and just as much, he missed the independence he had here. He loved being Robin, there was no denying that, but sometimes, going back to following someone else's rules was hard, especially when that someone was Bruce Wayne.

After agreeing that he'd come home to Gotham again within the next few weeks, Bruce had agreed to let Jason head back to Fandom. He didn't have that much to pack - most of his Christmas presents had come in the form of clothes and money to buy modern things on the island - so that meant that when he got back to his room, he threw his bag down without bothering to unpack it. There'd be time for that later, and right now, he wanted to see if there was a position he could find on his bed that wouldn't make his latest set of bruises ache. If there was one thing that could be said about Fandom, at least he didn't get beaten up here as often.

Nico probably wasn't supposed to beam at hearing Jason thought he was his own personal anything, but he did as he totally slid closer. "So out of everything, you missed my temperature?"

"Oh, I don't remember saying I missed you," Jason teased, unable to keep from smirking even as he said it.

"You don't have to say the words for me to figure you out," Nico said, taking that smirk as further proof.

"Okay, maybe I did miss you. But a month is a long time. Longer than I've been home since I got here," Jason said. "How boring was it here?"

"So boring," Nico sighed. "Almost to the point where I'd consider going home and letting Persephone arrange a bunch of flowers in my hair. I bet you had loads more fun." Running around in his tiny green shorts and all.

"Um. Most of the time," Jason said. Minus that whole nearly dying part. And just being around Two-Face in general. "I got a lot of fighting in, that was for sure."

"I get the feeling you fight more than most demigods I know," Nico replied. "Are you okay?"

"Hey, I'm sitting here, aren't I?" Jason said. Which totally meant he was okay, right?

"You are," he nodded. "You also said you were resting, so I asked."

It took a second, but Jason was able to remember that Nico probably did really care about how he was feeling. "I'm okay. Just sore," he admitted. "I may fight more than you guys, but I think you're a little better equipped for it."

"Doesn't seem fair," Nico said, frowning as he recalled his earlier conversation with Luke about fairness.

"Maybe, but I'm also doing this voluntarily," Jason said. "I choose to fight, I wasn't born into it. So, really, it's my own fault too."

Nico had to shake his head and remember that his own multi-dimensional issues had nothing to do with Jason and he didn't need to drag Jason into that whole mess if he could avoid it. "I promise I won't bug you about it. Unless you need a personal ice pack."

"Are you volunteering?" Jason asked. He couldn't help but grin at that. "You might have to stick around for a bit."

"I don't have anywhere to be," Nico promised, smirking a little at the hotness of that grin. "And...it's not like a hardship on my end."

Jason moved over so there was space next to him on the bed, and crooked his finger at Nico to beckon him closer. "Come here then, if you're so willing to help me," he said. "That's very nice of you."

Nico laughed as he crawled up closer to Jason. "You make me sound so innocent."

"Are you saying you're not innocent? I don't know, you seem pretty nice to me," Jason said. He tried not to stare as Nico got closer, but it was really hard.

"Just because I'm not innocent doesn't mean I'm not nice," Nico answered in amusement, tugging his shirt over his head before leaning closer to Jason. "Just like how I start out cold but I'm capable of getting warmer." Or stealing heat, same difference.

Jason had missed being around Nico, but he'd really really missed getting to see Nico with his shirt off. "Were you able to stay warm while I was gone?" he asked, definitely staring now.

Nico had missed that look on Jason's face, like he was someone worth staring at. "No. Try as I might, cuddling up to a hellhound just wasn't the same."

"Yeah, I can't imagine a poodle being helpful in that regard," Jason said. Stupid Mist. "Now I'm glad I came back early. Although making sure you have a place to stay away from Luke and Percy is a good reason too."

"She's not a poodle," Nico said, his arm moving to slip around Jason. "And I'm glad I got sexiled or I wouldn't know you were even back."

"Okay, two questions," Jason said, slipping an arm around Nico in return. "One, how is she not a poodle? And two, if you didn't know I was back, what were you doing here?"

Nico really liked the first question better and hoped he could distract Jason away from the second one. "Mrs. O'Leary is like, a five-hundred pound hellhound, you see a poodle because of the Mist. Did I tell you about the Mist?"
