Room 507, Saturday Evening

Jason and Nico had had every intention of going on an actual date tonight. At least, that had been the plan until their evening out had been cut short by an angry waiter who didn't understand that people had offerings of food to make, and that the fire hadn't been that big, and the napkins they'd used to snuff the flames were already were already frayed so they would have had to throw them out anyway.

The new plan involved pizza and the safety of Jason's room, which Jason decided should have been their plan all along. "I didn't even want to go to Outback, to be honest. Nothing on the menu looked as good as pizza," he said, trying to make Nico feel better as they sat down on his bed.

"So you just watched?" The look on Nico's face probably gave away how kinky that sounded to him. "And they think I'm a creeper."

"Actually, I kind of took pictures too," Jason admitted, turning a little red at how dirty that sounded after Nico's question. "And I talked to them, 'cause I wanted to see how crazy they really were."

"Pictures? For personal or blackmail use?" Nico wondered. Totally valid question when things were put that way.

"For blackmail, of course," Jason said. "I mean, I don't have anything against Warren and Jono, but you can never be too prepared, right?" That was what he figured, at least.

"You're such a boyscout," Nico teased, flicking his lighter and burning the bit of crust he'd been holding over the trash can.

In his head, he pointed out that the crust was the best part and that he hoped the gods enjoyed it, especially Lady Hestia. "For the gods."

After a moment of letting the food burn, Jason put the lid on the trash can to put the fire out. "You're the good one, not me," he pointed out.

"I'm good?" Nico raised an eyebrow as he leaned back with some pizza. "You're so the first person to ever say that. And probably think that."

"You make sure the gods are remembered. You're always nice. How does that not make you good?" Jason asked.

"I'm not always nice," he insisted. "Plus I hold grudges and have a temper and I might eat more than my share of this pizza." What? He was hungry.

"No one is always nice. I'm saying right now, you're nicer than I am. Unless you eat all of my pizza," Jason said, grabbing a piece and smirking at Nico.

"Since you have a piece, I guess that would be impossible. What do I get for being nicer?" Other than the pizza he was eating.

Jason snickered. "I don't know, what do you want?" he asked. "I don't have any medals lying around for you."

Nico sighed, clearly eating away his sorrow now. "I've always wanted a medal, too. I will just eat your pizza and pretend like there's a ribbon around my neck."

"Are you pretending it's a pretty ribbon?" Jason said, unable to resist teasing as he took a bite of his pizza.

"Yes. The prettiest," Nico deadpanned, rolling his eyes at Jason. "Pink or something to go with all the black I wear. That's what you'd pick, right?"

"For you? Of course. You can't wear all black all the time, no matter how good you look in it," Jason said.

"You say that, and somehow I'm still pretty sure I do wear black all the time. I mean, they didn't even try to enforce the orange camp shirt with me." Probably because he would look insane in orange. Insane.

"Well, maybe that's because they knew you wouldn't wear it, so they didn't even try," Jason said. "Do you just like black? Or is it like, a family thing?"

"I liked it before I knew I was supposed to be blending in with the shadows," he supplied. "Too boring? Think I should branch out and go for the pink and green or something?"

Jason smiled and shook his head. "No, of course not. If you like black, then stick with that. Especially since, like I said, you look good in it."

Way to make Nico nearly blush, Jason. He tried to hide it in a slice of pizza. "Thanks. Um, so did you make it to the career fair thing?"

"No, I didn't go. I'm pretty sure I know what my career path is going to be," Jason said with a shrug. "Did you go?"

"Uh huh," he nodded, smirking just a little. "If I make it past my teens, I could have a promising career as a courier of illegal goods or as a bounty hunter."

"You mean when you make it past your teens, right?" Jason said, trying to match Nico's smirk but failing.

"Right, when." It just wasn't all that likely considering everything in his life plus the typical demigod lifespan. "Interesting what careers the office thought I might be good at, though."
